The goal of the Stouffville Dog Owners Association is to promote responsible dog ownership and advocate for dog and owners rights in the Whitchurch Stouffville area. Below you will find a link for the petition to get an off leash area for the Stouffville Area. The petition states: I hereby support the Stouffville Dog Owners Association's request for an Off Leash Park for the Stouffville area, in support of their goal to promote responsible dog ownership and advocate for dog and owners rights in the Whitchurch Stouffville Area. Each week in our local paper is reporting on the millions of dollars being committed to build and maintain Arena's, Parks, Soccer Pitch's, Baseball Diamonds, Water Parks, Skateboard Parks etc... Every possible hobby or activity is allocated considerations in Stouffville. What do responsible dog owners in Stouffville get for their tax dollars? By-Law Enforcement and support of the animal shelter, which are designed to support the irresponsible dog owners. On the petition there is a question "Would this issue influence your vote in local elections?" It is as important to check this 'Yes' as it is to signing the petition. www.petitiononline.com/Offleash/petition.htmlThank you for your support!

28 signatures on the petition but only one member joined the Stouffville Dog Owners Association. This will take more than some signatures.

The last time I tried this 10 years ago we gathered signatures at the local pet stores. All told they had several hundred which staff ignorned because it was right after a young child (Courtney) was killed by a dog. The only thing that was available at the time was the baseball diamonds which are now gone. The baseball association said no because of dog poo. Baseball association (20,000 members) verses dogs (200). We need numbers. If we could get a list of the 200o registered dogs and get those owners to (and family) to sign then you start getting numbers. ie: 2000 x two parents and one voting age kid equals numbers politicians cannot ignore.

maybe we need to post this petition for people to sign up in areas around town, in store windows, arena's, anywhere dog people are to see it, and log on??? If people don't know about it, they can't sign it!?!?! My Wife and I have ( a very friendly GIANT) of a dog named Scooter ( 1/2 German Sheppard 1/2 Belgium Sheppard) and the only way to give him any excercise to tirer him out is "off leash" and I get very dirty looks if I'm caught with him off leash... let me know if I can help in any way??? why can't they fence off the area in town next to the pool / across from the baseball park & Library that is all grass and just sits there doing nothing???

Can we put the petition or info about the petition at the park at the corner of Lori and Thicketwood and other areas where dogs currently get together? Hit up Pet Value and Global Pet Foods to post it as well and also the vets in Stouffville and even east end of Markham as the closest one in Markham is over at Woodbine and 407.
